The following items were considered at the latest meeting.

Car Parking

You will have noticed that recently car parking on site has become tight. This is due to an increase in the number of resident’s cars and an understandable reluctance to use the small car park because of fouling by birds.

Next week some the branches over-hanging that car park will be removed in an attempt to ease the problem. Obviously it helps when people use their garages for parking. Wherever you park please use common sense and ensure that you do not inconvenience others or block access.

Gate

It has been agreed to go ahead with this proposal. The few residents who responded to the item in the last newsletter were in favour. The plan is to buy a gate and gate posts and have it erected at the point where the long path meets the main car park. The gate will be as high as the adjacent hedge. It will not be locked but it will be self-closing.

Everyone agrees that this will not be a complete solution but it should deter a significant number of trespassers. Its efficacy will be kept under review.

External lighting

Supplier problems are delaying this work but it is in hand and should proceed soon.

Block doors

Quotes are being sought for hardwood doors and frames for the four entrances. It is intended to introduce some security measures at the same time but the type has not yet been decided. A wireless intercom system is to be evaluated against a simple timed locking device. Further information should be available next month.

Painting and decorating

Quotes are being sought for the repair and painting of soffits, fascias, bin stores and some windowsills. The internal walls are not to be painted this year but will be washed and the lights cleaned.

Scrubbers

The annual scrub and re-seal of the common area floors is set provisionally for Thursday, 15th July. Dennis will confirm nearer the date with a note through your door. Please remember that you will not be able to walk in the hallways until the floors have dried so you need to arrange to be either in and staying in or out and staying out for the duration.

Grass

You will have spotted that the remedial work has begun and, as predicted, the lawns look terrible but the gardeners say it will be worth it.

Bin stores

The bin store in block in block 1/9 was recently cleared of accumulated rubbish and the store in block 10/22 is to be cleared shortly. This costs money. Your money. Please put your rubbish in the bins. If you have to dispose of something that the bin men will not take you should take it to the dump yourself or arrange for the council to make a special collection or contact Dennis for help. Please do not simply leave it in the bin store.

Water main

The replacement of the pipe to block 1/9 will proceed as soon as the contractor is available.
